It is quite fitting that Philadelphia will host the 2017 NFL Draft.   After all, when was the last time all four professional sports teams in a city were enduring a rebuild at the same time?   Anticipation for the sports season has been replaced by arguing over mock drafts and calculating ping pong ball odds over the last season or two for Philly sports fans.

This year the NFL Draft stage will sit at the end of Ben Franklin Parkway as draftees will have an opportunity to simulate the Rocky run up the Art Museum steps.   A large outdoor setup will accommodate thousands of hardcore draftniks as the NFL drags out the most dramatic draft ceremony of any sport over the course of three days from Thursday through Saturday this week.

The event will make you feel like you were attending an actual game, at least in one aspect, as you will have to pony up for a beer or grub.   The experience of watching the draft may not be as compelling when drinking a draft will cost you $12 per beer.  If that’s a show-stopper, fear not, as there are plenty of other options where you can nestle up to the bar at any of these spots in Philly to watch the Big Board without breaking the bank.  And if you want to make any of the draft experts sound much more interesting, take a drink every time you hear the word “upside.”  You’ll soon find the downside of playing that game.
